Electric Cylinders - Rod Type

The
EC2 series is a low cost linear motion package for light to moderate thrust loads ranging up to 3600 N [810lb] and travel up to 600 mm [23.6]. Precision rolled ballscrews are standard, yielding quiet operation, low backlash and high accuracy.

EC2 Series electric cylinders are available with brushless servo, step motors, or DC servo for compatibility with every motion control environment.

Both ballscrew and acme screw models provide a variety of speed and thrust capabilities. Ballscrew models are used in applications that require higher speed and duty cycles. Acme screw models generally perform best in low duty cycle applications, and where load holding is required without a brake or in the case of electrical power loss. The life expectancy of a ballscrew is generally better than an acme screw. Standard ballscrews are 5 mm and 16 mm lead, and acme screws are available in 4 mm lead.

EC2 timing belt or gear reductions between the motor and leadscrew allow selection of the best match between motor power and your linear speed and thrust range.

The
N2 and NV Series electric cylinder designs are the result of over 25 years of customer-focused product evolution. Their predecessor, the N Series, was introduced in 1993, an improvement over previously tie-rod style electric cylinders that IDC pioneered in the industry. Tens of thousands of N Series cylinders are currently in the field, making the N Series the most prolific electric cylinder design in the world.
N2 Series
Today, IDC offers the N2 as the next generation in the N Series family of products. The N2 provides the performance range of the N in a more rugged and
higher quality package.

N2 Offers Highest Customization
More specials and standard product development exists in the N2’s history than any other electric cylinder available today. The N2 is both flexible and robust to accommodate nearly every industrial motion control application. In fact, the N2 offers the most available custom options of all IDC products.

Improved Anti-Rotation System
A significant N2 improvement lies in the newly designed anti-rotation guide flange, which is eight times as strong as the previous N Series version. The guide flange prevents rotation of the ball nut or acme nut, a requirement for linear motion to occur in all electric cylinder designs. The new design benefits from a combination of die-cast and injection molding technologies, resulting in a ‘bulletproof’ design which virtually immune to failures during installation (tightening fasteners on the rod-end fitting) or accidental hard stops.

No Charge for Nonstandard N2 Stroke Lengths
Our manufacturing process can quickly respond to custom stroke length requests, which aids you in selecting the length actuator that best fits the application. Custom N2 stroke lengths are normally available in the same lead-time as our standard lengths. NV cylinders are only available in standard stroke lengths.

Smaller, More Economical Limit Switches
Also updated are the limit switches used to indicate stopping, home or end-of-travel positions on the N2 Series. They are smaller and better environmentally sealed (IP67) than the N Series switches, as well as being less expensive.

Same Mounting Footprint as N Series
The N2 Series retains the compact design (very low overall length per actuator usable stroke), and is footprint compatible with the N

Rodless Actuators

The
R2A Series is designed as a low cost package for light to moderate loads up to 50 lbs [22.7 kg] and travel up to 72 inches [1830 mm]. It uses low cost, internal, self-lubricating plastic bearings in a lightweight aluminum housing. The same flexible seal used with the R3 and R4 Series prevents environmental contamination and ensures long life, making it an effective, industrial-grade solution.

Two basic drive mechanisms can be used: Belt-drive offers the most rapid moves, and leadscrew offers the highest thrust capacity and repeatability.
There are four motor types available to meet a variety of application requirements:

R2A-D – 24 Volt DC

Cost effective.
Simple motion.
Open loop operation.
R2A-H – 160 Volt DC
High torque brushed DC servo motor.
Precise closed loop operation.
Thrust monitored.
R2A-S – Step Motor
High load and duty cycle.
In-position holding.
Economical open loop operation (encoder optional).
Repeatable positioning to 0.0005 inches [0.013 mm]

Th
e R3 series actuators fit the majority of rodless applications where carriage loads are less than 100 lbs [445 N]. A robust design using an internal linear motion guide rail and our built-in flexible seal ensures reliable operation in an industrial environment.
