1/2 - 500 Horsepower The Ultimate Drive
Solution

|
Specifications and Features for G7 Drive
|
This amazing AC drive is the ultimate performance solution with
increased speed and torque response to provide servo-like
performance from an induction motor. In addition, the
G7 drive includes the world’s first Inverter
architecture that eliminates or minimizes the installation problems
associated with IGBT switching on 480 volt systems and protects the
entire motor-drive system.
G7 drive performance makes it the ideal drive for high performance
speed, torque, or position control applications. Several control
modes are provided. In open loop vector mode, the latest flux
observer algorithms extend speed range and provide maximum starting
torque. In closed loop vector mode, 0.01% speed regulation and
1000:1 control range can be achieved. Zero-servo capability provides
position control at zero speed.
The G7 drive has the world’s first 480V 3-Level Inverter
architecture for total system protection. This patented 3-Level
architecture can eliminate peripheral components typically required
to solve installation problems sometimes encountered on 480 volt
systems. The G7 allows motor operation at very long cable lengths,
meeting NEMA MG1 Part 31, with peak voltage being 30% less than
conventional. With motor bearing current being typically 50% less
than standard inverters, the G7 provides four times the motor
bearing life. Audible motor noise on the 480 volt G7 drive is 5-10
dB (20%) less than the prior generation drive, even when operating
at half the carrier frequency. Common mode current is half that of
conventional drives. The G7 power section includes built-in bus
choke (most ratings), 12-pulse input capability (most ratings),
common DC bus capability, and regeneration options.
The G7 drive has three autotuning methods to optimize motor control,
including the new static autotuning which does not require load
decoupling nor motor rotation. The LCD operator displays 5 lines x
16 characters, in any of 7 languages. The keypad is intuitive and
includes memory for parameter settings, making it easy to transfer
settings from one drive to another. To further aid in parameter
management, DriveWizard™ software for the PC is available at no
charge, for upload, download, archiving, trending, and graphing.
The G7 drive has a large programming feature set to handle
sophisticated industrial applications. If the standard feature set
does not meet your specific requirement, the G7 can be programmed
using DriveWorksEZ™. This is a PC-based, object-oriented, graphical
icon programming tool that is friendly to the user. The drive
firmware can also be modified by custom or prewritten
application-specific modules such as
Motion Control
or Electronic Lineshaft.
The G7 drive supports the industry’s
preference for open network architecture and connectivity with
network choices such as DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, Ethernet, and
others.
The G7 is not intended for the simple, routine
AC drive application, it is for the challenges. The G7 drive offers
the ultimate performance, the best system protection, and the most
flexible configurations of any drive available.

1/8 - 10 Horsepower General Purpose Vector
Drive

|
Specifications and Features for V7 Drive
|
The V7 Drive is a high performance AC drive for induction motors,
providing low motor noise and high starting torque. The V7 provides
two control methods; V/f and open loop vector control for precision
speed regulation applications. In addition to good speed regulation,
open loop vector control also provides higher torque at lower
speeds. The V7 is intended for constant torque applications, with
current overload rating of 150% for 60 seconds.
The V7 is fully featured and compact. The digital operator
provides 4-digit LED status display with a built-in analog speed
potentiometer, as well as digital programming of almost 200
parameters. The digital pulse train input provides a precise
frequency input, and is the perfect solution for speed / follower
applications. The seven standard multi-function inputs can be
programmed to allow for 17 preset speeds. The V7 also has an analog
input, a multi-function output, two multi-function open collector
outputs, and an analog output as standard.
The V7 is ideally suited for applications such as conveyors,
grinders, centrifuges, pumps, fans, blowers, machine tools,
packaging, food processing, and commercial laundry.
One of the outstanding options for the V7 is DriveWizard. This
software enables upload, download, and monitoring of parameters.
Another software, CASE, can add functionality to the drive by
reconfiguring drive defaults, establishing presets for OEM
equipment, and by eliminating peripheral controls and PLCs.
A RS-485 Modbus RTU communication port is standard, allowing 32
nodes on a single network. Plug-in interface option boards enable
the drive to communicate with all the major networks, such as
DeviceNet, Profibus-DP, and others. The option board installs
directly on the drive control board via simple snap-in connectors.
A version of this drive called V7N is available with DeviceNet

Drive with Embedded DeviceNet

|
Specifications and Features for V7N Drive
|
The V7N is a general purpose, AC motor drive for facilities using
DeviceNet communications. This drive provides amazing performance in
a small package, and at significant cost benefit compared to drives
that use optional plug-in interface cards. The V7N was created by
embedding DeviceNet into the control card of the highly successful
V7 drive.
The V7N provides low motor noise and high starting torque. Two
control methods are provided – V/f and Open Loop Vector control for
precise speed regulation. Open Loop Vector control also provides
higher torque at low speed. The V7N is designed for constant torque
applications, with current overload rating of 150% for 60 seconds.
The digital operator provides a 4-digit LED status display with a
built-in analog speed potentiometer, as well as digital programming
of almost 200 parameters. The V7N includes 3 multi-function
DeviceNet inputs, four multi-function digital inputs, an analog
input, a multi-function DeviceNet output and two multi-function open
collector outputs.
The embedded DeviceNet allows 64 network nodes. It includes
programmable MAC ID and baud rate. The V7N supports drive type
profiles with flash capability for easy software upgrades. Network
status LEDs are visible through the cover and a plugable connector
simplifies wiring.
One of the outstanding options for the V7N is DriveWizard. This
software tool is used for online and offline configuration,
monitoring, and archiving to a personal data assistant or PC. CASE
is another software that can add functionality to the drive by
reconfiguring drive defaults, establishing presets for OEM
equipment, and by eliminating peripheral controls and PLCs.
This V7N with DeviceNet is provided in a NEMA 1 enclosure from 1/8
to 10 HP at 230 VAC and 1/2 to 10 HP at 460 VAC.
The V7N is ideally suited for applications such as conveyors,
grinders, centrifuges, pumps, fans, machine tools, packaging, food
processing, automotive assembly, and textiles.
V7N is the perfect choice wherever high performance, small size, and
DeviceNet Communication are required.
(The V7 drives family includes the basic V7 and the V74X. Both offer
various network communications via optional plug-in interface
cards.)

Specifications and Features for G5HHP Drive
|
A flexible modular design allows Yaskawa to use common components in
the full featured G5HHP adjustable speed drives with ratings from
400 to 1,600 amps, 460/600 VAC, 350 to 1,800 HP. Variable torque and
constant torque ratings are available.
Process control panels or circuit breakers can easily be
incorporated into the drive package. The desired power level is
achieved simply by adding rectifier sections and 400 amp inverter
modules in parallel. Slide-rail construction techniques permit easy
access for maintenance, removal or replacement of modules.
While a fully-regenerative front end is available, the drives
feature a standard non-regenerative front end and can easily support
a 12-pulse configuration for reduced harmonics.
The drive provides increased versatility in large horsepower
applications such as pumps and fans, chillers, pulp and paper
manufacturing and mining industry conveyors, rock crushers and
extruders.
The drive utilizes 32-bit microprocessing to deliver three levels of
drive performance in a single package. It combines breakthrough
processing power with the best of PWM and vector control to offer
volts/hertz, open loop or closed loop flux vector performance.
Speed regulation of 0.01% of motor rated speed is available in
closed vector applications, with a controlled range of 1000:1 down
to zero speed. Precise controlled speed ranges of 50:1 in open loop
vector mode and 40:1 in volts/hertz modes are also available.

Specifications and Features for G5 Drive 600 Volt
|
The GPD 515/G5. This AC drive incorporates a 32-bit RISC
microcontroller to handle all logic functions as well as the
complex, sine-coded PWM generating algorithms that control IGBT
switching. Using flash ROM and Application Specific Integrated
Circuits, the drive provides the benefits of all-digital control,
serial communications, and adjustments that don't age, drift or vary
with line voltage. The drive is such an excellent choice because it
incorporates three control modes in one product; traditional V/Hz,
open loop vector, and closed loop flux vector control performance.
The GPD 515/G5 is factory programmed and ready to run. When
operated from a remote process control, no operator actions are
required. For manual operation, set the frequency reference, set for
local or remote control and press the RUN key.
As a solutions provider, Yaskawa supports and encourages the
industry's open architecture, open connectivity demands. GPD drive
products can communicate via all the popular communication protocols
such as DeviceNet, Modbus, Profibus and others.
The GPD 515/G5 is equipped with a serial port utilizing standard
Modbus protocol. All drive interfaces allow for all parameters,
diagnostics, and operational commands. Optional interface boards
provide a wide range of control, monitoring, and diagnostic
communication capabilities for integration from plant floor to
supervisory level systems.
One of the outstanding options for the G5 is DriveWizard, software
that enables upload, download, and monitoring of parameters.
Another software, CASE, can add functionality to the drive by
reconfiguring drive defaults, establishing presets for OEM
equiopment, and by eliminating peripheral controls and PLCs. CASE
application-specific software can be easily flashed to the on-board
ROM.
The GPD 515/G5 adaptability and flexibility provide a unique
assortment of benefits for every application. It is ideal for
thousands of applications, ranging from simple to complex, low to
high precision, single drive or coordinated systems. In addition,
virtually every application enjoys the benefits of high efficiency
and power factor, high reliability, simple human interface,
self-protection and no maintenance.
